How much does it cost to enroll in a Credit Counseling program?
When searching for a Credit Counseling organization to assist you, you should look for a non-profit organization. Most
non-profit counseling agencies do not charge fees. However, they do ask for voluntary contributions to offset their
administrative costs and the costs that they incur when negotiating with creditors and establishing an account for a debtor.
There are for-profit organizations that perform counseling services, but they usually charge large fees. Generally speaking,
for-profit counseling agencies are unable to get the creditors to agree to repayment benefits that are as favorable as the
benefits that non-profit agencies are able to arrange.
